I've been finding hand sewing has been giving me sore fingers lately and one side effect of the fibromyalgia is increased response to pain and slow healing so I knew it was time to start shopping for a thimble.
Who knew there were so many types! I was very confused looking at them all so I decided I needed to ask for help. I posted on the facebook page of the wonderful Bonnie from Quiltville. She offered some suggestions and directed me to This post on her blog. There were some great tips both in her post and in the readers comments which gave me a lot to think about.
After much deliberation I decided to give the quilting thimble by clover a try. They fit around your finger leaving space to breathe and are adjustable for comfort plus they come in a pack of 3 so I can protect multiple fingers or keep one in my sewing box in the living room and one in my sewing room.
I've not tried them yet, I'll let you know how I get on with them.
