Quilted Celtic knot cushions

These cushions have been a UFO for what feels like an eternity! At last they are finally complete!

These cushions were a gift for my parents to replace their old cushion covers on their sofa. I bought 4 fabric panels with lovely intricate Celtic knot designs, there are 2 of each design. They are more colourful than my parents usual taste (as in they are not beige or brown) but I'm pleased to say they loved them. I've backed them with a simple black cotton with a central zip.

This is the other one of the 2 designs

The reason they had been a UFO for so long was because I had seriously underestimated the amount of time and effort to actually quilt these designs! I quilted along each of the gold lines on the designs which gave a lovely textured finish as I used a very thick polyester wadding. However this added up to a LOT of sewing!

Here are the back views of the cushions so you can see the quilted designs. Lots of sewing and lots of starting and stopping and turning. But it was all worth it in the end as they were over the moon with them.

I'm really pleased with how they turned out especially as it was only my first time at attempting anything like this. What do you think?

  4. I had to chuckle about your comment "beige or brown" being your parents taste. I LOVE BROWN!! People say I am stuck in the 60's and 70's. I guess I am. :D

    Beautiful cushions.
